{"id":3563,"date":"2013-11-25T03:12:43","date_gmt":"2013-11-25T03:12:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/iandg.com.au\/?p=3563"},"modified":"2014-02-24T05:51:50","modified_gmt":"2014-02-24T05:51:50","slug":"ig-win-ausit-award-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iandg.com.au\/index.php\/ig-win-ausit-award-2\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#038;G win AUSIT award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Independent and General (I&amp;G Pty Ltd) has won the 2013 AUSIT award for Outstanding Contribution to Indigenous Interpreting and Translation.\u00a0The awards were announced on the 16<sup>th<\/sup> of November at the annual gala dinner for the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>The award recognises I&amp;G\u2019s pioneering use of portable VOIP recording technology, through regional and remote Australia.\u00a0\u00a0 This technology has resulted in significant gains for Indigenous interpreting and translating:<\/p>\n<p>1 \u00a0I&amp;G have dramatically increased the number of languages able to be\u00a0recorded, to include languages that may previously have been\u00a0considered too hard to \u201ccapture\u201d. More people may now be employed\u00a0and there are cultural maintenance benefits too, as languages\u00a0previously considered too hard to record are now more accessible.<\/p>\n<p>2 \u00a0 I&amp;G have significantly shortened lead times associated with \u201ccapturing\u201d the languages.<\/p>\n<p>3 \u00a0The technology enables I&amp;G to control the production process,\u00a0ensuring a consistently high-quality end product.<\/p>\n<p>4 \u00a0The process enhances the checking and verification process, thereby\u00a0ensuring a quality-assured production for the client.<\/p>\n<p>I&amp;G\u2019s capacity in Indigenous language recording and production was most recently tested in delivering recordings for the first ever mobile phone application to be produced in 22 Indigenous languages, a \u201ctalking\u201d book and \u201ctalking\u201d poster.\u00a0 The creative agency for the work was The Hub for the Department of Health and Ageing as part of the <i>National Indigenous Ear Health Campaign<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p>Lee Hubber, Principal for I&amp;G says: <i>We are so proud to win this award.\u00a0 We\u2019ve fundamentally changed the way we work, to radically improve productions in Indigenous languages and its great to get the recognition<\/i>.\u00a0 <i>We equally credit the interpreter services, community organisations and cultural institutions all over Australia who host our equipment, for this win.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Independent and General (I&amp;G Pty Ltd) has won the 2013 AUSIT award for Outstanding Contribution to Indigenous Interpreting and Translation.\u00a0The awards were announced on the 16th of November at the annual gala dinner for the Australian Institute of Interpreters and Translators in Melbourne.
